Funky Kitsch is a fictitious company that sells funny and ironic products. The task was to create a custom dieline for a Kitschy product of our imagination. The inspiration for “Pyramid Power” was drawn from the proliferation of network marketing pyramid schemes so prevalent in Utah. A get rich scheme through the power of a literal pyramid. The challenge with this idea was to come up with a functional dieline and text that a triangular shape would accommodate. After experimenting with a few prototypes (mini-dummies are the key), I landed on the right fit, and the text flowed perfectly into the shape. The set comes with 5 stylish paper pyramids with instructions on how to get rich quick. The colors gold and purple work together to symbolize wealth, along with royalty. Mixing hieroglyphics with modern shapes helped make an interesting piece. If you see Pyramid Power in stores be sure to pick up a copy or two. One for you and one for a friend.
