Lettering and Layout Design
The project was to create a poster to highlight our favorite banned book for “Banned Book Week.” I was surprised to learn that one of my family’s favorite book series, Harry Potter, has been the number one banned book over the past decade. So I decided to make a statement about that. I really wanted to use typography to create something fun and punchy. I liked playing with creating letters using text to create a playful piece. I utilized quotes from the Harry Potter series to create a sense of playfulness and rhythm. The color palette was assigned, but I experimented with different applications of the palette to create the punch I was looking for. If you haven’t read the series, I highly recommend you do.
